We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Windle Trust International and the Friends of Ibba Girls’ School (FIGS) to support the management of Ibba Girls’ Boarding School (IGBS) in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan.

The girls at Ibba Girls’ School benefit from the investment in high quality infrastructure and classrooms, effectively supporting their learning.

Windle Trust International have been invited into the partnership as part of the implementation of a Ministerial Order in South Sudan to maintain IGBS as a Community School, providing free education to girls in Western Equatoria State and South Sudan at large. We have long maintained a relationship with the school and have supported IGBS and FIGS in several ways over the past decade. We are pleased to contribute further to the growth and development of this pioneering institution and help in expanding access to quality education for girls and young women.

The school itself has been operating since 2014 when it opened with just 40 girls. It now supports over 300 students and has established itself as a model school for the education of young women in South Sudan. The school has been closely supported and funded by the Friends of Ibba Girls’ School; a UK charity set up in response to a community request to help develop the school. Having raised over 90% of the capital and revenue costs of the school since 2011, FIGS has helped the school to grow through the development of infrastructure and human capacity and is committed to continuing to work in partnership with national and state government, the school, churches, NGOs, community, traditional leaders and Windle Trust International to support the school further through its next stage of development.
