Windle Trust International proudly announces its expansion into Somaliland, marking a significant milestone with a new partnership with Edna Adan University and Hospital. This collaboration is a pivotal step in our mission to provide quality education in regions impacted by conflict and poverty.

Edna Adan University focuses on Health Sciences, including Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health and Pharmacy. There are also departments for Computing and IT, and Business and Accounting

Enhancing English Language Education

Central to this partnership is the focus on English language training support. WTI is committed to enhancing the skills of local educators in Somaliland through comprehensive English language programmes, empowering teachers to offer improved educational experiences to their students.

WTI will also support with the provision of a number of scholarships, aimed at bolstering the educational landscape in Somaliland. These scholarships, designed to align with the region's specific needs, will play a crucial role in areas that resonate with WTI's commitment to education in emergencies, vocational training, and quality enhancement, contributing significantly to the region's educational and professional development.

Honouring Edna Adan

Edna Adan Ismail, the founder of Edna Adan University and Hospital and a formidable figure in Somaliland’s progress, is central to this partnership. Her dedication to healthcare and education has been instrumental in the development of the university. A former nurse and midwife, she has devoted her life to improving health standards and advocating for women's rights, shaping not only the university but also leaving a lasting impact on Somaliland's healthcare landscape. In October 2024, Edna Adan University and Hospital was entered into the World Directory of Medical Schools, a demonstrable mark of its foundations and quality, and a testament to the work done since it’s founding.
